Gary Iverson

Worshipful Master

Brethren,

Let me start by thanking the Lodge for allowing me to represent all of you at Grand Lodge.  Grand Lodge this year was very productive, and your Lodge benefited greatly by participating in Grand Lodge.  To see the results of the voting at Grand Lodge (there are just too many to list here), I encourage all of you to visit the Grand Lodge website at www.freemason.org.

My thanks to Worshipful Gil Buck and all the others who helped with the Annual Barbeque.  The Barbeque went well and exceeded my expectations.  We raised over $2,500.00, which will go into the Joe Gonzales Scholarship Fund.  On top of this everyone involved had a great time, the food was wonderful, and our members showed up in huge numbers to support this effort.  Again, my thanks to all those that helped to put the Barbeque on, and to those that attended.

My thanks also to Worshipful Frank and Mary Jo Gillespie for all their great work toward the evening at the Downey Civic Light Opera.  The dinner at Mimi’s was delicious and the presentation of My Fair Lady was worthy of a Broadway Play.  The evening was a huge success, everyone had a lot of fun, and (again) the performance of My Fair Lady was superb.  My thanks to all that attended.

Another round of thanks from me goes out to Worshipful Frank and Mary Jo Gillespie for their work in putting together the trip to Laughlin.  As I write this we are a few days from leaving, but I am sure we will all have a great time.

Last month your Lodge also elected Worshipful Roy Pool and Worshipful Steve Zastouphil for affiliation into our Lodge, we all voted to reinstate Brother Randall Gossett back into the Lodge, and we elected Mr. Kevin McAfee to receive the degrees of Masonry in our Lodge.  We also have about three more potential members under consideration.  With all that is going on, I can’t see how anyone can say that Masonry is in decline.  From where I sit I see Masonry, and our Lodge in particular, on a rapid rise.  We should all be proud of our Lodge.  I am.

As Worshipful Benjamin Franklin said after one Continental Congress meetings - I looked at the chair the President of the Congress and there I saw a sun.  I couldn’t tell if the sun was rising or falling.  After this meeting I can now see that the sun is rising for a brighter future.  As I look to the east of our Lodge room I see a similar sun.

I also can see that the sun is rising with the prospects of a bright future for Freemasonry, and for your Golden Trowel Norwalk Lodge.

Greetings, I would like to congratulate Brother Matt Malouf, Brother Joe Liang, Brother Paulo Amaral and Brother Joaguim de Almeida on being initiated as our new Entered Apprentice Masons and also to the officers and brethren that helped out.

The 160th Annual Communication of Grand Lodge of California and Installation of Officers were concluded on the 1st weekend of October, 2009 and the whole event went real well and I would like to thank the Lodge for sending us all to go.

The Dinner at Mimi’s and Downey Theatre had a good turnout and everyone seemed to enjoy. Laughlin trip and our 1st Degree are coming up after this writing and also our District is changing and our monthly OSI will be at  Downey #220 Lodge.                                                                                      Fraternally

WAGES OF A MASTER MASON

“Masonic labor is purely a labor of love.  He who seeks to draw wages of gold and silver will be disappointed.  The wages of a Mason are earned and paid for in their dealings with one another, sympathy begets sympathy, kindness begets helpfulness, and these are the wages of a Mason.”

                                           - Benjamin Franklin
