Greetings,
As you
read this, I find that we have already gone through the first quarter
of the year – and what a great year it has been so far. Attendance at
the Stated Meetings is up, long overdue improvements are being made to
our Lodge Building, the Superbowl Party was a lot of fun, your
officers have conducted some great degree work, we gave out the Public
Service Award to a great public servant (Dr. Gary Smuts), we have had
our Lodge events published in local newspapers, our Board of Trustees
has been established and our Financial Implementation Policy has been
approved by the Lodge, your officers are attending training in record
numbers, the outing to the Smothers Brothers was a huge success, we
gave out the Hiram Award to a much deserved Brother (Brother Ben
Benezette), the presentations to our Ladies at every Stated meeting
have been great, the meals at every gathering have been delicious, and
the Fellowship and Harmony in your Lodge is simply inspiring. There
is a lot more planned for the rest of the year, and I truly hope that
you can join us. Keep an eye on the calendar of events, and try to
schedule an opportunity to join us. Good things are happening at YOUR
Lodge.
The
special event for this year, and one that I would like to see all of
you at is our 125TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION on May 17,
2009 at 2PM. The Grand Master, Worshipful Larry L. Adamson will
be joining us for this very special occasion. To make your
reservation, please send in your $15 per person to the Lodge with your
name and contact information. We won’t be selling tickets at the
door, so you must have a reservation to attend. Please make your
reservations early, the Lodge only holds so many people - we don’t
want to turn anyone away.
Another couple of days that I need to see you at the Lodge are on
May 7th and May 21, 2009. We will be giving the
Second Degree of Masonry to Brothers on those days, and I would
like to see a big turn out. We will be serving refreshments after the
Degrees, and again, we need you there to show the new Brothers that
Freemasonry is alive and well in our Lodge.
Finally,
on May 30th the Golden Trowel Norwalk Lodge will be putting
on our Annual Bar-B-Que at the Covina Masonic Homes. We will be
serving lunch and visiting with the residents of the home (including
our Brethren, Widows, and the youth at the home). This is always a
great outing and a lot of fun. We will start gathering at 10:30Am at
the Covina Masonic Home, and lunch will be served at 11:30AM. We will
have games for the kids, and a huge amount of Fellowship for
everyone. Not to brag, but we are going to have some of the best
burgers, hot dogs, beans, potato salad, and fixings around.
