As published in the Whittier News (provided with my thanks to Brother Ed Nelsen):

Who are Masons?

-   Men of the community of good character involved in making the community better.
-
Freemasons are Bricklayers, and Lawyers and Bakers and Bankers and Doctors and Actors and Salesmen and tailors and Teachers and Service personnel and Clerks and mechanics and Policemen and Firemen and Politicians and Merchants and Astronauts and generals and Presidents.
-
We are not strangers.  We are your relatives, friends, neighbors, and business associates representing every race, sect, religion, origin, and walk of life.
-
Our purpose is no secret: “to improve and strengthen the character of the individual man, and through the individual, the character of the community.
-
Our Masonic beliefs match yours:  God, Truth, Justice.  The law.  Our Flag, liberty, enlightenment, Fraternity, and Philanthrophy.
-
Because it takes good men to recognize good men, we look forward to telling you more about us.

ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS ASK.

Think about cutting this out and passing it on to someone you think would be a good Mason.  I have.

From the Secretary’s Table

Bill Sizemore

Brethren,

And here we are in the middle of the year already.  The sun is warm and the evenings are beautiful.  It’s now time to get out of the house and bring your Lady to an exciting dinner and fun.  Our Stated Meeting Dinners are really good and we usually get some entertainment from Worshipful. John Jansen when he gives us the opening prayer.  How much better can it get?

Dues for 2009 are way past due so if your Masonic Dues Card does not say paid through December 31, 2009 then you are late paying it to your Lodge.  Please take a moment, sit down and write that check to G.T.N.L. #273 so you will be current.  Your Lodge depends on those dues monies to pay our monthly bills.  Our dues are very low and we need everyone to pay their share.

We are receiving some petitions for the Degrees and your Lodge Officers are practicing hard so you will be proud of them when they put on the Degrees.  Come out for the Degree nights and watch your Lodge Officers perform.  They look sharp and you will enjoy it.  Read your Trestleboard for the proper dates and times.

All your Lodge Officers enjoy it when you attend the functions so come on down and shake hands.  Your Masonic Friends are there to see you.

Fraternally,

Bill Sizemore, PM - Secretary

Happy Father’s Day on June 21
