My
Brothers,
Wow, is the year almost gone already??? It sure flew by. Let me
start by thanking all the Officers that helped me continue to make OUR
Lodge great. Let me also thank all those others that helped.
Together, the Golden Trowel Norwalk Lodge has become “THE” Lodge to
belong to in our area.
It
has truly been an honor to serve this Lodge as Master this year. In
the speech I gave at the Installation, we wanted to accomplish the
following:
-
Continue to improve the Trestleboard and get it out in a timely
manner. I think this has happened and my thanks to those that sent me
their articles on time.
-
Finish the website and get it running. This is done, and my thanks to
Worshipful Larry Williams for putting together such a great website.
- Make
more use of the Phone Tree. We have done this, and sometimes to the
point of being annoying.
- Use
emails to communicate. This is also been done. Wish more folks would
have given me their emails, but there it is.
-
Provide events to promote Fellowship. Another thing we have done, and
the spirit of Brotherhood in our Lodge has been tremendous.
-
Support the Masonic Youth Groups. We have done a lot toward this
goal, but we need more Brothers to help with our youth groups. Done,
but not perfectly.
-
Start a Masonic Mentoring Program. Again, this is done but could be
expanded.
-
Recommit members to the principals of Brotherhood. Again, the harmony
in the Lodge has been heart-warming…all due to our wonderful members.
-
Continue contributing to community Charities. We have done this, but
I think we could do more. Contributions are more than giving money,
and we might want to think about doing more volunteer work in our
community.
-
Reinstitute the annual Masonic Barbeque. Thanks to Brother Gil Buck
and a whole lot more Brothers, this happened and was an outstanding
success.
-
Reinstitute the Public Service Award. Done and Dr. Gary Smuts is
still praising Masons with thanks for the recognition we gave him.
- Have
a Public Schools night. Done, and was a huge success.
- If there is one goal that we fell short on, that would be more
exposure in the community. We Masons do great things, but no one
knows it because we don’t brag about what we do. While we don’t do
things for the accolades, I still think we need to let more folks what
we are and what we do. This is also something that all Freemasons can
do by being the example, and letting folks know that the good guys in
the community are Masons.
As I said, it has been a great year. It was great because all of you
are great. My thanks again for allowing me to be Master this year.
It was an experience of a lifetime. -Gary
