From the East Gary Iverson Worshipful Master

Greetings,

As we find ourselves moving rapidly through the year I must let you know how pleased with all the great things that are going on in OUR lodge.  For example, your Lodge conducted the Public Service Award Ceremony on February 26, 2009.  the award this year went to Dr. Gary Smuts, the Superintendent of the ABC School District.  Dr. Smuts was thrilled to receive the award, and he considered it a great honor.  Additionally, the Lasagna dinner from Frantone’s Restaurant in Cerritos was simply delicious.  I want to thank the Excelsior Chapter of the De Molay for dong such a great job of helping me set up the Lodge, serving the meal, and for leaving the Lodge spotless…the De Molay shirts were a nice touch.  My thanks to all of you for turning out for what turned out to be a wonderful evening, and for honoring this well-deserved award to such a great man for his years of unselfish service to our community.

On March 13, 2009 the Lodge members and their companions attended the Smothers Brothers performance at the La Mirada Center for the Performing Arts.  As expected these two great comedians were quite entertaining, quite thought provoking, and kept us laughing.  I though the seats were great, and I also want to thank those that attended this event.  Everyone had a great time, and we were just sorry more Brethren didn’t attend.

On March 26, 2009 the Lodge honored Brother Harry (Ben) Benezette by presenting him the Hiram Award.  Brother Benezette has been a Master Mason in our Lodge for 61 years, rarely misses a Stated Meeting, and is a solid figure of what a Freemason should be.  Brother Benezette has been active in the Lodge for a very long time and it means a lot for a Lodge to have consistent, supportive, and active members like Brother Benezette. For me personally, it was an honor to be a part of this long over due tribute to such a fine Brother.  Thanks to Café N’ stuff for the delicious Prime Rib Dinneralways comforting to have our long-time Brethren like Brother Ben in the Lodge – it shows that we must be doing something right. Congratulations to Brother Benezette for being honored with the Hiram Award.

As you can see OUR Lodge continues to do great things.  The candidates are working with their coaches, the fellowship among the brethren is flourishing, and the spirit of Freemasonry is thriving.  All we need is for you to join us.

Finally, I just wanted to remind all of you to make sure and call in for your dinner reservations before Monday morning of the week of Stated Meeting.  The food has been great this year, and we want to make sure a meal is ready for you.
